Back WORLD AIDS DAY 2015

November 30, 2015

As CONRAD approaches the 30th anniversary of our founding, it is both confounding and breathtaking how far we have come and how far we have yet to go in defeating the AIDS epidemic.  Despite the advances we have made in both treating, and now, preventing HIV acquisition with antiretrovirals,  young women are still acquiring HIV at unacceptably high rates, and as we witnessed with actor Charlie Sheen’s recent admission of his HIV status, no one in any high risk group is spared.  To those who have become complacent about HIV, World AIDS day is a reminder that HIV/AIDs is still a damaging and stigmatized disease.  Those who are at high risk continue to need a variety of prevention options that best suits their lifestyles and reproductive health needs.  Continued funding for innovative prevention technologies is crucial, the time to act is now.
