Dr. Mauck received her medical degree in 1981 from the University of Michigan and her M.P.H. in 1988 from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her Preventive Medicine residency in Population Dynamics at Johns Hopkins in 1989. Prior to joining CONRAD in 1992, Dr. Mauck served as a consultant to the Population Council's Center for Biomedical Research from 1989 to 1990, and as Assistant Director of gynecologic and reproductive research at R.W. Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Institute from 1990 to 1992. From 1997 to 1998, she was a medical reviewer for the Division of Reproductive and Urologica1 Drug Products at the U.S. Food and Drug. Since 1994, she has also served the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, giving direct patient care in Title X family planning clinics on a part-time basis. Dr. Mauck has co-authored publications relating to clinical research on contraceptives and microbicides, including "The use of colposcopy in assessing vaginal irritation in research" (2000) and "Recommendations for the clinical development of topical microbicides: an update" (2001), both of which were published in AIDS.
